A Diamond Taunton couple helped raise cash for people suffering with Multiple Sclerosis as part of their wedding anniversary celebrations.

Paul and Naomi Carton met in Dublin in 1942 after being set up by a family member and were married in Surrey in 1948.

Paul worked as a GP in the town for many years and was a medical officer for Taunton Race Course for several years.

The couple had four children, a boy and three girls, and have ten grandchildren.

Instead of presents for their 60th anniversary, the couple asked for donations to The Samson Centre in Surrey, which provides emotional, physical and practical support to people with MS and their carers. They chose the charity as their youngest daughter suffers from MS.

Naomi said: "We’ve been together 60 years, had four children and had a wonderful life."
