Overview Potential MSTG(G) members are welcome to drop in to the Samson Centre to see the facilities on offer for themselves. The centre is currently open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 09:00am to 3:00pm . Anyone wishing to join the group should first contact one of the administrative staff at the centre - see the Contacts page for details. Depending on the category of membership required (see below), there may be a waiting list, as the number of physiotherapists available determines the number of people that can be admitted to the sessions. Assuming physio places are available, potential members will be assessed by one of the physios to establish whether one-to-one or group therapy would be better for them. In addition, should they want to use the gym, the centre's resident fitness instructor will carry out a separate assessment and produce an exercise program tailored to their needs and abilities. Prices We are very pleased to say that we have been able to avoid any price rises for the 2011/2012 membership year; rates remain at the same level as last year. There are several categories of membership of the MS Therapy Group (Guildford), depending on the use one wishes to make of the Samson Centre. The first £100, which can be used to recover Gift Aid (as long as the member is a UK taxpayer), is for social membership. It does not include treatments or gym usage, which are covered by the additional categories listed below. Current annual rates are as follows: Category Price (£) Explanatory notes Basic membership 100.00 Allows social use of the centre (e.g. coffee mornings, talks by experts, participation in social events). Treatment: One-to-one physio & gym 415.00 Basic membership, plus the following: • one individual physiotherapy session per week with one of the MSTG(G)’s neuro-physiotherapists. • one individual gym session per week. Treatment: Group physio & gym 305.00 Basic membership, plus the following: • one group physiotherapy session per week with one of the MSTG(G)’s qualified staff. • one gym session per week. Treatment: Group gym 305.00 Aimed at those members with Multiple Sclerosis who wish to make more use of the gym without having physiotherapy – includes basic membership and allows the following: • one or two group gym sessions per week. Unsupervised gym use 195.00 Basic membership, plus the following: • unsupervised use of the gym during the hours allocated to the MSTG(G). Associate membership Donation Aimed at Partners and Carers of members with Multiple Sclerosis, who may be Associate Members without payment under the MSTG(G)’s constitution. Allows full use of the gym. No fixed subscription, but an annual donation of at least £80.00 is expected. Notes: • Annual subscriptions cover the period from 1st September to 31st August the following year. • Half yearly subscriptions are available, by arrangement with the Samson Centre office. • Therapies will usually be available for at least 43 weeks in the year at specific times agreed with each member. However, times or days may need to change due to sickness or other absence. • Membership subscriptions can be paid via internet banking, by standing order, or by cheque made payable to MSTG(G). Standing order mandate forms, as well as details of the MSTG(G) bank account to which internet banking payments should be made, are available from the office. • If paying via internet banking, please remember to quote your surname in the Reference field – failure to do so will cause no end of headaches for the Treasurer! • It may be possible to arrange extra therapy sessions, but they must be agreed in advance with the therapist(s) concerned, and we request a donation of £5.00 for each additional session. • All categories of membership entitle the member to receive the MTSG(G)’s quarterly newsletter.
