Recent Fundraising Highlights

It’s always humbling to realise just how much we depend on the generosity and hard work of our many supporters, who tirelessly go about raising the funds we need to keep our superb centre going.

Here are some of the recent events which have taken place:

Sarah Carton, the niece of former member Fleur Crowther-Smith, undertook an impressive bike ride in Sweden on the 9th June, raising £684.60 for the Centre in her memory.
On the 22nd June, MSTG(G) member Jane Yates took part in a 10k run in Finsbury Park and raised £500 for the Centre.
The curry and quiz night held at the Centre on the 5th July, with delicious curries made by MSTG(G) Trustee (and volunteer oxygen operator) Mike Collings, raised £462.
MSTG(G) Member Ella Findlay volunteered to have her head shaved in aid of the Samson Centre on the 13th July. So far, she has raised an amazing £2,316.63 – and she’s hoping there’s more to come!
Hindhead Gold Club have adopted the Samson Centre as their charity of the year and have so far raised a staggering £8,988!
We never take them for granted, but – as usual – our runners in this year’s British London 10k Race on the 14th July have done us proud, raising around £6,500 for the Centre.
Two open gardens, Ann Bellamy’s on the 14th July, and Lyn Gray’s on the 15th August, raised £1,000 and £500 for the Centre respectively.
MSTG(G) member Fabiola Stifano clearly has nerves of steel, having done a skydive in aid of the Centre on the 17th August. To date, this insane idea has raised just under £4,000!
Although they weren’t able to persuade Samson Centre Manager Jackie Payne to join them, her husband Chris, son Harry and sister-in-law Caroline successfully completed a 7-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of August. Their efforts have swelled the Centre’s coffers by just under £2,600.
The golf day organised by Farnham Lions at Hindhead Golf Club on the 29th August has raised over £7,000 for the Centre.
The cake sales organised at the Centre by Heather Ashton are always both popular and profitable, and the one held on the 18th September was no exception. Aided and abetted by a veritable host of people including Gilly Denyer, Laura Farrell, Ross Ludgate, Sheila & Jim Buntin, Linda Broughton and Anne Collings, the event made over £240 in cake sales, with another £90 coming from the raffle.

As ever, our heartfelt thanks go to all those involved in these events. We really couldn’t keep the Centre going without your energy, commitment and support.
