Local artist Reg Bull has very generously teamed up with the MSTG(G) to sell some of his work through the Samson Centre. All proceeds, once his costs have been covered, will be donated to the Samson Centre. Reg Bull is a self-taught amateur who paints purely as a hobby, and is currently a member of the Fleet Art Society. Having painted on and off for some forty years in a variety of media, he has finally settled on oil as his favourite medium. To assist him in producing a painting, he uses photography, mental notes and anything else he finds suitable, including his own imaginiation.
The works offered for sale consist of prints and greeting cards, which can be ordered from the Samson Centre office. Prices are as follows:

Basingstoke Canal Price code: HP Water colour original painted on water colour paper This painting was inspired by a photograph taken by Reg whilst on a local walk. |

Blue Door Price code: G Oil original painted on canvas board The inspiration for this painting came from Reg’s wife after a holiday in Corfu. |

Cutty Sark Price code: G This is not a copy of an oil painting. It has been produced by combining two photographs – one taken of a 1:90 scale model of the Cutty Sark that Reg built, and the other taken of the sea off Cadgewith, The Lizard, Cornwall. These have been skilfully manipulated on a computer by Steve Drysdale of Giant Web Design, to give the impression of an oil painting of this clipper ploughing her way out to sea. |

Eilean Donan Castle Price code: G Oil original painted on canvas board Following an extremely serious illness and life-saving surgery, Reg was facing an uncertain future. Reg’s wife suggested he do a painting whilst he was convalescing. He chose this picture in order to express his feelings at that time. |

He faced inland, rather than out to sea, and both sketched and photographed this scene. |

Lauterbrunnen – Switzerland Price code: G Oil on block canvas Reg’s dear friend Eileen Neale gave him a photo of this scene, inspiring him to paint it. She and her husband have enjoyed their summer holidays in Switzerland here for many years. |
